Introducing “Sayo” — an evolution of the Neel chair.
Sayo was conceived around the same two principles that shaped Neel:
To dismantle.
To feel lighter.
An exploration of simplicity, Sayo takes the language of Neel and transforms it through an entirely monochromatic expression. The chair is crafted entirely from rattan, stained in black and designed as a knock-down piece for easier packing, movement and shipping. Its lighter base allows the form to retain a sense of openness, while the woven seat brings texture and tactility. The seat is woven in rattan core, bringing together natural and black-stained strands in an interplay of tones — creating subtle variation within an otherwise monochromatic chair. The name Sayo, associated with the quietness of evening and night, reflects the chair’s darker, more contemplative character. Sayo is also available in a junior edition, bringing the same language of craft and form to a smaller scale.
