Introducing “Neel” — a new take on the rattan chair. Envisioned for our showcase in London at Shoreditch Design Week × New Designers Selects, “Neel” was born from two simple design constraints.
First — it had to dismantle.
A knock-down construction makes the chair easier to pack, ship and transport.
Second — we wanted to rethink the traditional rattan chair.
Instead of the familiar bulky base, we wanted “Neel” to feel light — both visually and physically.
The seat appears to float above the legs, creating a sense of lightness and suspension. It is woven with piping made from waste fabric, dyed in indigo with an ombré effect, and woven around the rattan reeds — bringing together textile waste, natural material and traditional craft. A junior version is also available, designed with children in mind, with customisable fabric colours.
